Student WEA Honors Outstanding Leaders
Student WEA recognized outstanding leaders April 16,
2004, during its annual Honor Dinner, which is held in conjunction with
the Student WEA Representative Assembly.
Student WEA members are WEAC members and leaders that attend state
and private colleges and universities who are studying to become educators.
They engage in various organizing activities that benefit Wisconsin’s
great schools and communities, attend professional conferences, and
participate in leadership trainings.
Pete Roller, WEAC Staff-Retired and Dianne Lang, president of the Appleton
Education Association judged the entries.
The 11 award winners are:
- Outstanding Chapter Newsletter - UW-Stevens Point
- Outstanding Chapter Web site - UW-Stevens Point
- Outstanding CLASS Project - UW-Whitewater
- Outstanding Chapter Advisor - Dr. Joyce Shanks, UW-LaCrosse
- Highest Chapter Numerical Increase - UW-Stevens Point
- Highest Chapter Percentage Increase - Carthage College
- Outstanding Teacher Educator - Dr. Hector Cruz, UW-Stout
- Outstanding Cooperating Teacher - Heidi Teich, Bowler Elementary
and Rick Stewart, LaCrosse School District
- Outstanding Chapter Excellence (small chapter) - UW-Green Bay
- Outstanding Chapter Excellence (large chapter) - UW-Milwaukee
- Outstanding Chapter Student Leader - Erin Dowdell, UW-Whitewater
