WEAC Wins Four Awards at Editor's Conference
WEAC won four awards at the State Education Editors conference this summer
in San Antonio, Texas.
The awards were:
- Best Constituent Newsletter: Great
Schools SpeakOut. This newsletter, which goes to local association
and UniServ leaders, provides guidance and materials for promotion of
Great Schools at the local level.
- Award of Merit, Special Publications: WEAC: A History,
written by WEAC staff writer Dustin Beilke. The book, released last
fall, also has won the National School Public Relations Associations
Award of Excellence, the Public Relations Society of America Bronze
Anvil Award of Commendation, and other awards.
- Best Newsletter: Update.
This weekly newsletter for association leaders provides coverage of
education news and notices of important association activities.
- The E-Media Award: OnWEAC. WEACs Web site was recognized as
the top Web site among NEA state affiliates.
WEAC's publication OnWEAC In Print is designed and organized
to highlight information posted to OnWEAC over the previous month. This
Web first approach allows WEAC to disseminate information
more quickly and thoroughly while increasing member involvement and
making member services more accessible.
This innovative approach led to the creation of OnWEAC In Print in September
2000, replacing the former WEAC monthly publication called News &
Views.
Since its inception in 1996, OnWEAC has won many awards, including the
Spectrum Award of Excellence from the Wisconsin School Public Relations
Associa-tion for five years running; and various awards from SEE and
the Public Relations Council of the States, including the prestigious
Pacesetter Award.
The State Education Editors organization is made up of editors from NEA
state affiliates. The conference is held annually prior to the NEA Convention.
