Henry Winkler Cancels as Speaker at WEAC Convention

Convention is October 25-27 in Madison

Actor Henry Winkler has cancelled as keynote speaker at the 2000 WEAC Convention October 25-27 in Madison. WEAC is working on scheduling a new speaker. Watch OnWEAC for future announcements.

Kozol to speak at breakfast

Author and passionate public education advocate Jonathan Kozol is the speaker at the WEAC Convention’s Education Issues Breakfast October 27 in Madison.

Kozol received the National Book Award in Science, Philosophy, and Religion for “Death at an Early Age,” the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award for “Rachel and Her Children,” and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for “Amazing Grace.”

His latest book, “Ordinary Resurrections,” is about the little miracles of innocence in children who still view the world without cynicism or despair. Through them we see devoted teachers in a good but underfunded public elementary school who manage, against all odds, to provide a warm, inviting, and protective learning atmosphere.

The Great Schools’ message of “Every Kid Deserves a Great School” comes through loud and clear in Kozol’s work.

The breakfast is by reservation only. Forms are included in the WEAC Convention Program, which are being mailed in September.
