Public school choice could affect bargaining
The public school choice program approved in the recently-enacted state
budget could have repercussions for education employee contracts. WEAC
Executive Director Don Krahn said the Legislature is expected to act on
a trailer bill, filling in some details omitted from the budget bill.
Krahn said districts must adopt rules to implement the new law, and some
could affect bargaining, for example changes to layoff requirements.
