110 state teachers earn rigorous National Board Certification

Teaching quality in Wisconsin classrooms made a substantial gain in 2007 with 110 state teachers throughout the state achieving National Board Certification, according to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

National Board Certification is the highest credential in the teaching profession. A teacher-driven, voluntary process established by NBPTS, certification is achieved through a rigorous, performance-based assessment that typically takes one to three years to complete and measures what the most accomplished teachers should know and be able to do.
