WEAC leaders left out of "special committee" When the Wisconsin Legislative Council’s Special Committee on Review of State School Aid Formula meets Wednesday, September 13, it will do so without representation from the leadership of the state’s largest education employee’s union. WEAC leaders were excluded from the committee’s membership. WEAC President Stan Johnson volunteered to participate as the spokesperson and advocate for the 96,000 public school employees WEAC represents, but the partisans who control the Joint Legislative Council would not let him join the committee. “Teachers and education employees have the most insight into how the state’s school aid formula affects children in the classroom, so we naturally assumed we would have a place at the table in discussing changes and presenting the statewide picture to other members of the committee and the people of the state of Wisconsin,” Johnson said. “Sadly, our voice will not be heard for political reasons.” The Special Committee on Review of State School Aid Formula will meet at 10 a.m. September 13 at the Legislative Fiscal Bureau Conference Room in Madison, 1 East Main Street, Suite 301.
