The new Student WEA executive team for 2006-07 and two executive officers from the 2005-06 State Team display their plaques after the NEA Student Program Awards in Orlando.
The Student Wisconsin Education Association stormed into another NEA Student Program Awards season, taking home five local awards and one state award at the June 26 ceremony during the Student Leadership Conference in Orlando.
"It was wonderful to see the student leaders rewarded for their hard work that makes WEAC's student program successful and top notch," said Nancy Clark, WEAC's Student WEA coordinator.
In all, Student WEA was awarded six national awards and two chapter recognitions. Amanda Froom, who served at Student WEA president 2005-06, was named Outstanding State Leader, and Wisconsin Lutheran College did especially well, winning three local honors.
"I am confident that this year, more of our locals will be inspired to apply for national awards, as the individuals/chapters below represent just some of the great local organizing and programming that goes on all over our state," Clark said.
