Wisconsin now has 33 teachers who have attained National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification. Thirty-one of them are WEAC members.
On Thursday (November 30, 2000), the NBPTS announced that 4,694 teachers from throughout the country, including 23 from Wisconsin, earned national certification for the 1999-2000 school year.
National certification is a voluntary process involving rigorous performance-based assessment that takes nearly a year to complete.
"WEAC and the education community are very proud of our newly certified teachers," WEAC President Terry Craney said. "Certification is a very difficult and challenging process. People who achieve this goal are to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication to the teaching profession."

All except Dentinger and Dosemagen are WEAC members.
