Welcome To the Wisconsin NBPTS Regional Web site. This on-line resource was created in 2006 by the Wisconsin National Board Teachers in an effort to coordinate National Board Certification resources throughout the state. Wisconsin NBCT’s, other state NBPTS networks and WEAC collaborated to design this tool. It is maintained by WEAC and linked to DPI, WNBN and NBPTS.
Advanced candidates are those individuals who did not meet national certification during the first year. Candidates have three years in which to achieve certification, so advanced candidates are those who continue on for year two or three in their quest for certification.
Upon receiving scores from the National Board, an advanced candidate should use the online score calculator, or a form like the one below, to evaluate the best course of action to take as they proceed in the process. Advanced candidates may only elect to retake those entries that did not achieve the 2.75 certification rate. Candidates should evaluate which combination of entries would give them the best chance of certification based on the weight of the entry and the possible improvement that can be expected by the candidate on the entry.
Advanced candidates must apply online by January 31 following score release if they wish to proceed in the process. Each retake entry is approximately $350. Portfolio retakes are due on April 15, with assessment center appointments available anytime after payment until June 30.
Advanced candidates are encouraged to reach out to the Wisconsin National Board Network, WEAC or local resources to arrange for specific support to meet their unique needs.
