On Wednesday (October 22, 2008), Northwest United Educators hosted a Professional Development Plan (PDP) Team Training conference in conjunction with the Department of Public Instruction. The purpose of the workshop, held in Rice Lake, was to train professional educators on PI 34 and the PDP process. At the conclusion of the conference, participants were certified to verify initial educators' PDPs. Twenty-four NUE members were in attendance, along with three members from other UniServs.

"This was a great opportunity for northern Wisconsin and NUE to train educators, who in return will be valuable resources for initial educators throughout the state," said Kelly Ryder, curriculum and instruction program director and Cumberland High School teacher.
