Teacher Appreciation donations

For Teacher Appreciation Week, the Whitewater Education Association decided not to give out trinkets and other “stuff” as Whitewater EA President Diana Callope puts it – it decided to give back. The WEA made donations in teachers’ names to the Whitewater Food Pantry and to the districts’ Family Emergency Fund. Each teacher received a certificate marking their charitable donations.
“This is the first time we’ve tried the idea, and I’ve received lots of positive feedback from our membership – and the organizations receiving the donations,” Callope said. “We will likely make this an annual event.”
The WEA contributed $500 each to the Whitewater Food Pantry and to the Whitewater Family Emergency Fund. It also made a $525 contribution to the Bethel House.
