Liability insurance

Association Liability Insurance covers officers and employees of NEA state and local affiliates for certain claims and suits arising out of their association-related activities. Educators' Employment Liability Program protects members who are sued or charged criminally for actions arising out of their job. In civil actions, members are guaranteed a cost-free legal defense as well as up to $1 million of insurance protection for any damage awards or settlements. In criminal cases, members are reimbursed for attorney’s fees and other legal costs up to $35,000 if the member is falsely accused of violating a criminal statute.
