The Goal

The goal of this plan is two-fold. First, the plan introduces low-cost, systemic changes to Milwaukee Public Schools that will allow the district to move forward toward quality education for all students.

Second, the plan will address the structural, programmatic, and leadership needs of “Schools Identified for Improvement (SIFI).” Students in SIFI schools will have access to the same educational opportunities that are now available to students in other school districts, and to services they need to support academic success.

In this plan, we introduce the concept of “Opportunity Centers” – schools where these strategies could be demonstrated. As our strategies prove effective, they can be implemented in other schools in need of improvement in Milwaukee and across Wisconsin.
