SAGE Expands to 74 Schools
Wisconsin’s groundbreaking class size reduction program is expanding
to 74 elementary schools this year.
SAGE (Student Achievement Guarantee in Education) is adding 44 schools
to the 30 already participating in the program. The program reduces
class size in the lower elementary grades in schools with high concentrations
of children from low-income families.
The Legislature approved funds to expand the program last spring.WEAC’s
1998-2000 Legislative Agenda calls for further expansion of the
program throughout the state.
