2011-2013 State Budget resources

With attacks on worker rights and massive cuts to our state’s public services, Governor Scott Walker’s campaign against working Wisconsinites has created a system of chaos for public schools. Walker's platform for education includes moving the state as far backward as possible, scaling way back on per-pupil spending, eliminating the rights of workers, de-funding science and math programs, nixing the requirement for reading specialists, paving the way for unlicensed and unprepared teachers, and much more.

We have built a strong tradition of education in Wisconsin, one that residents believe holds the key to the state’s future. Our state’s children are the very people we should be investing in, not hurting by taking away the resources they need to learn. Countries worldwide are investing heavily in education, and we cannot allow our state to fall back by pulling away resources and creating a culture of chaos for schools.

What Governor Walker is proposing for public schools will have severe, lasting effects. The state Department of Public Instruction says the state cuts to public education are the largest since the Great Depression.
