Great Schools is a far-reaching project, initiated by WEAC in 1999, that seeks to engage communities in efforts to define the schools they want and then work to achieve the goals they set for their schools.
The Great Schools central theme is: Every kid deserves a great school. Building off that theme are three key messages:
Great Schools is built on the premise that we have quality schools, that they got that way because of the involvement of citizens at the local level, and that they can only remain that way through the support of citizens and elected officials.
One aspect of Great Schools is a statewide advertising and public relations campaign that draws attention to the fact that Wisconsin has one of the best systems of public education in the nation. Great Schools is designed to preseve that status and build upon it for even greater success in the future.
The success of Great Schools depends on the involvement of teachers, support staff, parents and concerned citizens in every community.
