WEAC's Professional Development Academy (PDA) will once again be collecting used printer cartridges for the Staples Recycle for Education program. Under the new Recycle for Education program, Staples will donate $3 per eligible cartridge to PDA, an increase from the previous $1 program. Members can donate their used printer cartridges at Summer Academy in Appleton, July 30 through August 2, 2006. The PDA will collect the cartridges and turn them in to Staples for the refund. Members who participate at Summer Academy will be eligible for a drawing to win prizes. If members are unable to attend Summer Academy, they can send their cartridges along with a member who is attending, or ask their local UniServ if it will serve as a drop-off point. The PDA earned $1,329 from the period of August 1 through September 15, 2005. The money is earmarked for Mediasite technology, which allows PDA and all of WEAC to webcast informational sessions and classes to WEAC members. The Mediasite program is in its early stages, with hopes to create a library of webcasts for members to use. Since the cartridge program launched, Recycle for Education has donated $27,156 to WEAC's Professional Development Academy. Posted April 20, 2006 |
