Once again WEAC is offering several Quality Schools Grants to local associations or UniServs that develop materials to support implementation of PI 34. With full implementation of PI 34 on the horizon, it's important that our members are prepared. This year we are offering two "levels" of grants for districts preparing to implement the new licensure requirements.
In addition, we have added a third option-- piloting mentor training
materials developed by Kathy Larson and WEAC's Professional Development
Academy. Each type of grant is described below:
Are you interested in one of the mentor pilot grants? If so, contact
Deb Berndt via e-mail (Berndtd@weac.org)
for additional information.
Are you interested in a "Beginners" or "Veteran"
grants? If so, follow the directions below. Your proposal should be
well written, complete, coherent, and reasonably detailed; include evidence
of association involvement in the process, including participation by
a representative of the local bargaining team; demonstrate willingness
on the part of the district to work with the association to develop materials;
and be practical in its goals and procedures.
More specifically, if you apply for one of the "Beginners" or "Veterans" grants, complete and return the application form along with other required written materials on or before April 5, 2004. The accompanying written materials must not exceed 5 pages (typed, double spaced, and numbered), excluding the required application form. If you include other materials, please understand that proposals will be judged only on the required pages. There is no required format for the application. However, your written application must address the following two components:
Grant funds are not to be used for the purchase of equipment (e.g., computers, copying equipment, etc.).
Important dates:
Proposals must be received on or before April 5, 2004.
Grant recipients will be notified no later than April 23, 2004.
