Two
of Wisconsin's recent high school graduates have received the College Board's
Advanced Placement (AP) State Scholar Award.
Caitlin Miner-Legrand, a graduate of North High School in Milwaukee, and Justin Simard, a graduate of North High School in Appleton, are among 106 students nationwide to receive the honor.
The awards are presented annually to one male and one female student in each state who earn passing scores on the greatest number of AP exams and have the highest average grade on all AP exams taken.
In 2002, more than 16,000 Wisconsin students took AP exams, and 70% earned
a passing score. The exams allow high school students the opportunity
to take challenging college-level courses and receive credit from universities.
