Kettle Moraine High School is one of 172 secondary schools nationwide to become a 2001-02 Blue Ribbon School. All six schools within the Kettle Moraine School District now have Blue Ribbon status.
The U.S. Department of Education runs the Blue Ribbon Schools program, which seeks to support and improve the nation's education system by identifying schools that are committed to academic excellence. Kettle Moraine is one of 4,000 schools nationwide to receive the honor during the program's 19-year history.
In order to become a Blue Ribbon School, teachers, administrators, students, parents and community representatives must undergo a rigorous self-evaluation process to assess strengths and weaknesses. A national panel of public and private school educators reviews the assessment reports using eight areas of criteria. The panel then selects a group of schools for a two-day visit for an in-depth review.
Three representatives from Kettle Moraine High School will travel to
Washington, D.C., for a Blue Ribbon Schools professional development and
recognition ceremony.
