Bargaining Update
October 20, 2009
The Bargaining Team met on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. The team considered the solutions to the Overload Issue and will be summarizing those solutions for the next meeting. The team discussed the Grievance Process and the solutions that meet the interests of the FEA and the District.

The FEA and District bargaining team met on October 1, 2009. The team continued discussion of the Overload Issue. The team discussed the Grievance Issue and brainstormed possible solutions.

September 14, 2009
The bargaining team met on September 14th & September 21st.
The team established the charges for the calendar subcommittee to discuss: 1. Complete calandars for 2010-11 and 2011-12 by December 22, 2009 2. Discuss half-days for staff development (placement, use and concerns). 3. Early notification 4. Use/amount of preservice and closing days 5. Amount of parent teacher conference time (placement during school year) 6. Instructional minute requirements 7. Placement of Back-to-School nights 8. Snow days
The team established the charges for the compensation and benefits subcommittee to discuss: 1. Review comparables 2. Review Appendix positions 3. Health Care (Long Term Care, Health Care Reform, Dental, Vision) 4. Funding for compensation & benefits 5. Mid-year lane changes 6. Payroll options
The committee identified the interests and brainstormed solutions for the Overload Issue.

August 10, 2009
The bargaining team met on August 6th and August 10th. A tentative solution was reached regarding the high school and middle school workload issue.
Future meetings: September 14, September 21, and October 1.
June 08, 2009
The FEA bargaining team met on Monday, June 8, 2009. The team continued to work on the Workload issue. The high school subcommittee will continue to work out more of the details of the recommendation and bring that back to the bargaining team's next meeting.

April 23, 2009
The District/FEA bargaining team met on April 23rd. At this meeting we reviewed interests on the issue of teacher work load. Presentations on existing and alternative class scheduling were given by building level administrators. Possible solutions were then generated to address all interests. Solution generation will continue at our next meeting. Future meetings are scheduled for May 4th and May 18th both at FPMS.
March 10, 2009
The bargaining team met on Tuesday, March 10th. The team determined the following issues to be addressed during this bargain:
a. Calendar (2010-11 & 2011-12): A subcommittee will be formed and discussion will begin in the fall of 2009. b. Compensation and Benefits: A subcommittee will be formed and discussion will begin in April 2009. c. Teacher Load: Defining the teacher workday with issues related to overload, prep time, and class load. d. Grievance Procedures: Review current grievance language and process. e. Part-time teacher benefits: Review existing language and continue discussion from last contract negotiation. f. Domestic Partner Rights: Investigate domestic partner rights. g. Limited-Term Teacher: Evaluate effectiveness of the limited-term teacher language. h. Professional Improvement: Investigate options to address professional development needs. i. Parent/Teacher Conferences: Evaluate the scheduling of parent/teacher conferences.
The bargaining team then began to work on the Teacher Load issue by brainstorming the interests. Four future meeting dates of April 20th, April 23rd, May 4th, and May 18th were set.

March 02, 2009
The FEA and the district met to open contract negotiations on March 2, 2009. The bargaining team reviewed the consensus bargaining process and revised the ground rules based upon recommendations from the last bargain. The team also exchanged issues (which will be communicated at a later date), and set three future meeting dates. The next bargaining session is scheduled for March 10th at the ECC.
April 30, 2008
The bargaining team met on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. The team received an update from the Compensation Subcommittee, reached consensus on a tentative agreement regarding the Co-curricular Retention Rights issue and continued discussion of the Definition of Part-time Teacher Reduction of hours issue. The next meeting of the team is scheduled for May 29, 2008.

The bargaining team met on Thursday, April 10, 2008. The team reached consensus on the co-curricular issue. The compensation subcommittee continues to meet and will report to the bargaining team on April 30, 2008.

The bargaining team met on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. We continued discussion of the co-curricular issue. The compensation subcommittee continues to meet and will report to the bargaining team on April 30, 2008. The next bargaining team meeting will be held on April 10, 2008.
March 11, 2008
The bargaining team met on March 11, 2008. The team continued discussion of the Part-time Teacher Definition issue. The team began discussion of the Co-curricular Retention/Evaluation issue.
The next meetings of the team are April 2nd and April 10th.

The bargaining team met on February 20, 2008. The team continued discussion of the Definition of Part-time Teacher and Reduction on hours issues.

The bargaining team met on February 7, 2008. The team reached consensus on the following Tentative Agreements: • Personal Days • Evaluations • Salary Placement- New hires • Part-time Teacher Job Security
The team worked on the Definition of Part-Time Teacher and Reduction in Hours issue.

January 30, 2008
The bargaining team met on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. We continued discussion regarding the personal day issue. We reached consensus on two (2) Tentative Agreements, Salary Placement for New Hires and Evaluation and Professional Growth of Staff. We began discussion of the Definition of Part-Time Teacher FTE issue.
January 16, 2008
The bargaining team met on 1-16-08. The team discussed the United Health Care options. We received a report from the elementary prep time and evaluation subcommittees. Solutions from both of these subcommittees are moving forward for action. The team reached consensus on extending the sunset date on the Catastrophic Leave Memorandum of Understanding. The team meets again on January 30, 2008. Fifteen (15) bargaining meetings have been conducted to-date.
December 05, 2007
The bargaining team met on December 5, 2007. The team reviewed the potential solutions for the placement of new hires on the salary schedule and the part-time teacher probationary issues. The team brainstormed and evaluated potential solutions for the personal day issue. Currently, there are three subcommittees working on benefits and compensation, evaluation and elementary prep time. Calendar options and PI 34 are topics of these subcommittees. Our next bargaining meeting is December 20, 2007.

The bargaining team met on Tuesday, November 20, 2007. The team continued discussion of the placement of new hires on the salary schedule and the part-time teacher probationary issue. The team also began discussions of the elementary prep issue.

The bargaining team met on Thursday, November 1, 2007. The team received another report from the compensation subcommittee. Consensus was reached on the 2008-09 and 2009-10 calendar options that would move forward to the FEA bargaining team. The team discussed the issues, interests and brainstormed options for the personal day issue. The next meeting is set for November 20, 2007.

The bargaining team met on Tuesday, October 23rd and reached a tentative agreement on salary placement of new hires. The team also reached consensus on a proposed solution for the part-time teacher issue. There was a report from the Compensation & Benefits Subcommittee and the 2008-09 and 2009-10 Calendar Subcommittee options were shared.

October 2, 2007 The bargaining team met on Tuesday, October 2nd. The team brainstormed solutions and applied the consensus standards to the Part-time teacher issue. The team's next meeting is scheduled for October 23rd.

September 25, 2007 The bargaining team met on Tuesday, September 25, 2007. The team reached consensus to move the conceptual solution for the New Teacher Placement issue forward to the next step in the collaborative process. The team began discussion of the issue of Part-time Teachers. The next meeting is October 2nd.

September 19, 2007 The bargaining team met on September 19, 2007. The team reached consensus on a conceptual solution to the salary placement issue. The team also resolved the voluntary FTE reduction issue. The compensation and calendar subcommittees have been meeting. Four new dates have been set for bargaining.

August 21, 2007 The bargaining team met on August 21, 2007. The team continued to work on the New Teacher Salary Placement issue. The next meeting is September 19, 2007.
July 31, 2007
The bargaining team met on Tuesday, July 31, 2007. The team brainstormed the issues and interests associated with placement of new teachers on the salary schedule. The team brainstormed possible solutions and determined what research needed to be done to evaluate those solutions. Future meetings are scheduled for August 21st, September 19th, and September 25th.
July 11, 2007
The bargaining team met on Wednesday, July 11, 2007. The team brainstormed the issues and interests associated with the Evaluation and Supervision Program. The team drafted the charges for the Evaluation and Supervision Subcommittee to be formed in September. Three more summer meetings are scheduled for bargaining on July 31st, August 7th and August 21st.
June 13, 2007
The bargaining team met on June 13, 2007. We completed the list of interests as they pertain to compensation and benefits and established charges for the subcommittee. The subcommittee membership was also determined. Our next meeting is July 11, 2007.
May 29, 2007
The Bargaining Team met on Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Reports from the PI34 and the Elementary Prep Time Subcommittees that met from November of 2006 to April of 2007 were provided. The interests and charges of the Calendar Subcommittee were determined. The Bargaining Team also began to identify the interests for the Compensation and Benefits Subcommittee. The next meeting is scheduled for June 13, 2007.
May 15, 2007
The bargaining team met on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 and completed a cross referencing of issues. We began to prioritize the issues and determined what subcommittees we initially plan to form. We then scheduled five meetings to occur during the summer.
