| FEA Executive Board Meeting September 12, 2007 Call to Order: 4:38pm by President Sue Mischler Introductions – Sue M. Ted Kraig: Council 10 Executive Director Nancy Koeckenberg: Council 10 President FEA Officers and BRs Treasurer’s Report – Sandy J. Checking: $19,732.66 CD: $7,515.32 Money Market: $12,865.51 MOTION – Linda R. (Amy C. seconded) moved to send the FEA Directory by email, in a PDF file, to BRs, who will forward to members with instructions to be printed on home computers. PASSED Negotiations Report – Richard G. Eight meetings have been held between the Bargaining Team and the District. A good relationship between the two parties continues. PI-34, Elementary Prep Time, and Insurance Committees have all reported. Compensation/Benefits Committee is continuing their work. Ongoing discussions continue regarding several other topics. Legislative Report – Linda R. The State Budget is not settled. Members are encouraged to email their state legislators, encouraging them not to cut funding to schools. Information was shared regarding the Healthy Wisconsin program. The UEP office will host PDP training to any interested members at their office on Oct. 4th and 8th. Grievance Report – Kim T. BRs will distribute the Chain of Command handout to all members. BRs and members should notify Kim Trendel if anyone is put on a Plan of Assistance or if any disciplinary action is taken against a member. Updates regarding recent arbitration hearings. MOTION – Kim T. (seconded by Michelle K.) moves to move into Executive Session. PASSED MOTION – Paula D. (seconded by Susan S.) moves to send the grievance discussed to arbitration. PASSED MOTION – Kim T. (seconded by Erin K.M.) moves to move out of Executive Session. PASSED Old Business 1) Building Concerns A. Health Textbooks on hold until the Health Coordinator position is filled. B. Matt Lesar will survey staff regarding damage to staff vehicles at FPMS. If future damage happens, members should file a police report as well as inform the following people: Matt Lesar, Mark Cloutier, Sue Mischler 2) FEA New Teacher Meeting The FEA new teacher meeting will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the Hideaway. New Business 1) Future Executive Board Meetings October 10 FPMS November 14 SWG December 12 (Meeting will only be held if necessary, at a location TBD) January 9 BF February 13 RW March 12 CD April 9 FHS May 14 General Membership Meeting (The Hideaway) June 4 Executive Board Dinner (The Rafters) MOTION – Richard G. (seconded by Bonnie K.) moves to pay BRs $160 per year. PASSED with 3 members opposed. 2) BR Introductions A. BRs should introduce themselves to new teachers. B. If any member is notified that their hours will be reduced, they should notify their BR ASAP! Members and/or BRs should remind principals that members being reduced to hours between 70 – 99 % receive full salary and benefits. C. FICON members’ names should be sent to Richard Gould. D. PDPs – The Brookfield Uniserv office is becoming a licensing center where teachers can get affordable assistance with development and verification of PDPs. In addition, members will distribute flyers to all members about the upcoming PDP training sessions to be held on October 4th and 8th at the UEP office. Building Reports BF: None. CD: Math kits for 3rd grade teachers. Concerns regarding training for new math. FPMS: Computer training concerns. STAR program concerns. PV: Online gradebook training not adequate. Concerns regarding bi-monthly meetings during prep. Bathroom concern. RW: Dues question. Concern regarding shortage of custodians/ classroom setup. SWG: Summer training concerns. EAs doing teacher duties. Job sharing question. CWD program needs EAs. Maternity leave dues question. MOTION – Tracy D. (seconded by Sherrie N.) moves to approve the minutes.
