| FEA Executive Board Meeting February 7, 2007 Call to Order: 4:32pm by President Richard Gould Treasurer’s Report – Sandy J. --Checking: $20,927.70 --CD: $7493.01 --Money Market: $12,453.75 Future Executive Board Meeting Dates & Locations March 14 - Pleasant View April 18 - Ben Franklin Franklin Council 10 Report – Sue M. --The 2006-07 budget was approved. --Greenfield PAC money was approved for mailings and a possible bill board to support their upcoming referendum. --Reviewed Uniserv Director job description. --A sexual harassment policy was approved. --WEAC Bargaining Strategy Goals were presented. --Guy Costello is running for WEAC Vice-President. --TRACE Training will be coming up in May. Negotiations Report – Richard G. --The Survey Committee (Michelle Kanczewski, Erin Krase-Minchk, Barb Miller) will begin working on the Negotiations Survey very soon. --Richard went over the Negotiations Team and appointments. (See “New Business”) Legislative Report – Linda R. --Governor Doyle covered several important topics in his State of the State Address. (Please go to www.weac.org to read more about these topics.) Promoted “Wisconsin Covenant”, a program that guarantees today’s 8th graders who sign an agreement, stay in school, demonstrate citizenship, and maintain a B average will be admitted into college in Wisconsin after graduation as well as receive a financial aid package if needed. Called for a third year of math and science for high school graduation. Announced he will triple funding for school breakfast program. Urged legislature to approve a major investment to reduce class sizes for grades K – 3. --Discussed School Board races. --Discussed upcoming referendum. --Dan Burkhalter will be speaking on 21st Century Leadership on February 20 @ 5pm at the UEP Office. Grievance Update – Richard G. / Val G. --Jill gave a brief update on pending grievances. --Any teacher receiving a non-renewal notice should contact Jill Roffers (grievance chair) immediately. PR Committee – Kim --Letters to the editor will continue with the new local paper, “The NOW”. --BRs will distribute the third edition of “What Has the FEA Done For Me Lately” to all members. --Any noteworthy “Read Across America” activities, let Kim Trendel know via email so she can promote these. Old Business --Calendar - The School Board approved Calendar C, which was the calendar that was voted on by our members. --New Hire Salary Placement - Discussion was held. --Assessment Writing - Continues to be a concern. --Email attachments - Problem will be looked at. New Business --Negotiations Committee Discussed Negotiations Team/Committee members and appointments for at-large positions. The representatives will be as follows: FEA President (Richard Gould), FEA President-Elect (Sue Mischler), FHS representatives Paula Dryer, Tom Rupel, Andy Misorski, FPMS representative Kim Trendel, Pleasant View representative Laura Detert, Ben Franklin representative Marguerite Dargewicz, Southwood Glen representative Louise Weber, and Robinwood representative Sandy Jolliff. At-large appointments are Amanda Pozorski and Pat Dallman. MOTION – Paula D. (Erin K-M. seconded) to approve the appointments as is with the option to add up to 3 more members. PASSED Building Reports: BF: None. CD: None. FP: Traveling teacher/Exam grading time concern. Concern regarding consistency of truancy policy. Follow up on letter to Dr. Szakacs regarding safety. FHS: Communication concern. PV: Building trust concern. Mentoring long-term sub concern. RW: Snow day make-up time question. SWG: Snow day make-up time question. Voting procedure question. **All elementary buildings have a concern regarding not being able to open attachments sent in their emails. MOTION – Kim T (Bonnie K. seconded) to accept the minutes.
