Discipline
What to do.
If you are called into a meeting that could lead to discipline or involves a contractual matter, you have a right to union representation.
Consider saying the following: "If this discussion could lead to discipline or involves a contractual matter, I respectfully request that my association representative be present at the meeting. Without representation, I choose not to answer any questions."
If the inquiry does not stop, ride out the illegal meeting by saying as little as possible.
Please note that your employer is not required to inform you of your right to have a union representative present at a disciplinary meeting. You must ask for representation.
If you are unsure of your rights, contact the FVTC Faculty Association President or your Build Representative.
