Delegates approve 5 New Business Items
WEAC Representative Assembly delegates approved five New Business Items. Topics included continuation of a policy to not allow affiliation of the Hortonville local, support for WEAC's strategic priorities, charter school licensure standards, online communications, and membership in the Wisconsin Alliance of Excellent Schools. 120 students are All-State Scholars
This wasn't part of the RA, but in a separate event last weekend, 120 students from throughout the state were honored as part of the All-State Scholar program, which is co-sponsored by WEAC. Read more
Summer Academy registration now open
Online registration is now open for the 2008 WEAC Summer Academy, which is July 27-30 at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center and the Doubletree Milwaukee City Center. The Summer Academy page includes descriptions of all the sessions, events and special activities.

Communities show teachers appreciation
Schools throughout the state honored their teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. At Maple Dale and Indian Hill Elementary Schools, for example, the celebration was healthy, environmentally friendly - and fun. "It feels really good to do something for the entire staff," said parent Jen Friedman, who co-chaired the event with parent Beth Alling. "It seems like a small gesture on our part because we know how much they do day in and day out. And they do it with smiles and a love of learning." Read more

State teacher writes winning PSA
A De Pere teacher played a key role in a national Teacher Appreciation Week campaign sponsored by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. As part of a contest, Sheila Kohl, a 6th-grade teacher at West De Pere Middle School and NBPTS-certified teacher, wrote a public service announcement that was played on radio stations throughout the country.
