Senate passes anti-bullying bill

The State Senate Thursday approved a bill designed to reduce bullying in schools. The bill - which requires school boards to adopt anti-bullying policies and to annually distribute the policies to students and their parents or guardians - now goes to the Assembly. Read more

Strategies help 'crack open' literature

We have all been afflicted with the tedious experience of a rambling storyteller with no guiding focus. Usually we listen politely, resolving to change the subject when the opportunity presents itself. As students transition into reading more complex literature, many times they are left scratching their heads and thinking, "Why are you telling me this?"
