The Circle of Courage - Early Childhood Dr. Martin Brokenleg, Those who work with young children have the best opportunity to lay the foundation of experiences that strengthen a child from within. The Circle of Courage philosophy operates at the level where all children are alike regardless of the ethnic community from which they come. Positive youth culture approaches that are research based are effective in actually helping children. Martin Brokenleg, a Professor of Native American Studies at Augustana College, is also an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Dr. Brokenleg is Dean of the Black Hills Seminars, a national training institute for professionals serving troubled youth. He also works with Reclaiming Youth International, a non-profit organization networking those serving children in conflict in family, school and community. Dr. Brokenleg has spoken worldwide and draws on more than 25 years of experience working with youth professionals. Focus: Elementary educators Location: Mendota 4 Alliant Energy Center |
