AAS working group presents findings

WTCS faculty will have enhanced voice in matters related to curriculum and educational practices under a proposal presented to the WTCS State Board by the Board's working group on the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.

While details have yet to be fully developed, the working group agreed at its March 14 meeting on the need for a system-wide committee made up of faculty and other primary stakeholders charged with reviewing and making recommendations on current and future curricular issues.

State Assembly passes AB 246

The State Assembly voted Tuesday, April 12 to pass AB 246, which requires WTCS districts to implement statewide admissions standards and statewide curricula in programs that train workers for health occupations. It is likely that the State Senate will pass the bill sometime next week.

Members are urged to use the Cyberlobby tool on OnWEAC Members Only to encourage Governor Doyle to veto AB 246. Background and talking points will be available on the Cyberlobby site.

**INPUT NEEDED**

Faculty representatives will be gathering on April 19 to discuss the creation of the WTCS's Curriculum & Educational Practices Committee.

We have created a special e-mail account (below) for those interested in providing faculty representatives with input on the structure and/or function of this new committee. Please provide us with your thoughts on:

Who should make up the committee?

How broad or narrow should faculty representation be?

How should faculty representatives be appointed?

What degree of authority should the committee have?
