REA, School Board Reach Contract Consensus
The
Racine Education Association announced July 16 that it had reached a contract
agreement with the Racine Unified School Board. The announcement took place
after two years of contract negotiations.
The REA and school board tentatively agreed on two contracts. One retroactively
covers the 1999-2001 school years and the other is a current contract
for 2001-03.
The contracts must be ratified by teachers and the school board before
they are formally accepted. Officials expect the ratification to occur
within the next two weeks.
Until the contract is formally accepted, a gag order prevents REA and
school board personnel from revealing any details about the agreements.
The school board has not reached a contract agreement with educational
support professionals.
