Cyberlobby efforts to focus on specific issues
leading up to Lobby Day on June 19

Now that the Joint Finance Committee has taken action on the major education items in the 2007-09 state budget, members are asked to focus their Cyberlobby efforts on specific issues each week leading up to WEAC Lobby Day on June 19.

Soon, the Joint Finance Committee will send its version of the budget to the State Senate. Action in the Assembly will follow.

The schedule of Cyberlobby topics is listed below. To Cyberlobby your legislators, go the OnWEAC Members Only site and click on the Cyberlobby button.

For each week listed, please focus your Cyberlobby messages on the issues below. For background on these topics go the Members Only site's Budget in Brief page:

Week of May 21: Declining enrollment, low revenue ceiling, transportation ("rural initiative").
Week of May 29: Revenue cap relief.
Week of June 5: Categorical aids such as SAGE, special education, bilingual bicultural aid.
Week of June 12: QEO law repeal.
