The Educator Compensation Institute has launched a new Web site – www.edcomp.org – that serves as a clearinghouse for educator pay, focusing on alternative approaches to compensation.
The ECI is a joint project of teacher and administrator advocates. Its staff of contributing editors includes superintendents, union advocates, teachers, researchers, and others interested in the issues related to education employee compensation. It is organized by Kettle Moraine UniServ Director Jim Carlson.
The ECI Web site includes comprehensive information on alternative compensation models, including summaries of existing models in Colorado, Montana and Wisconsin. The Wisconsin examples are Manitowoc, Plymouth and Waunakee.
The site also includes research and reports on alternative compensation, related news, and descriptions of legislative initiatives.
The ECI is a non-profit corporation funded through the contributions of organizations interested in the issues involving educator employee compensation. It is not a teacher union initiative, but its work is supported by the NEA and WEAC.
The ECI also offers an online discussion board and an option to subscribe to a monthly electronic newsletter that focuses on alternative compensation issues, news and information.
