Welcome to the WEAC 2007 Summer Academy! This year's Academy will be at the Holiday Inn Convention Center - Stevens Point, starting on Sunday, July 29 and ending Wednesday, August 1.

Courses that you may already be familiar with are being offered. These include:

• Bargaining - Basics (Includes ESP, preK-12 and WTCS issues);
• Bargaining - Advanced (Includes ESP, preK-12 and WTCS issues);
• Contract Enforcement and Grievances - Basic (Includes ESP, preK-12 and WTCS issues);
• Contract Enforcement and Grievances - Advanced (Includes ESP, preK-12 and WTCS issues);
• Emerging Voices;
• Creating A Quality Professional Development Plan and Using QEI;
• National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Candidate Preparation Workshop and National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Facilitators Institute.

A new offering this summer is a course combining two popular NEA programs:

• Minority Community Outreach & Closing The Achievement Gap.

There are three programs designed to forward specific initiatives and these are:

• Local Governance Development (for Presidents, Vice Presidents, Treasurers, etc.),
• Effective Locals,
• Teaching And Learning Leaders Workshop.

The training is balanced with time to network and socialize with members from across the state. Sunday includes a welcome reception, Tuesday will be the exciting dinner and activities event sponsored by WEA Trust and Wednesday, August 1st is the first day in office for the newly elected WEAC officers. Come and join the learning and solidarity!

SUMMER ACADEMY HIGHLIGHTS Sunday 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm WELCOME After you have picked up you Summer Academy check-in packet come and mingle with members from around the state and your trainers. Meet the new WEAC Officers and enjoy hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and entertainment together. Monday 12:30 - 2:00 pm Networking Luncheon The Networking Luncheon provides a unique opportunity to meet members, leaders and staff. New leaders at the state, UniServ and local level will be introduced. This a time to share with members with similar interests as well as discover what brings others to Summer Academy and how the Association is improving to meet our members' needs. Plan on leaving with contacts you may use in the future. Tuesday 6:00 - 8:00 pm Dinner and Social You won't want to miss this year's WEA Trust sponsored event! Enjoy dinner, games, music and entertainment with WEAC members and WEA Trust leaders and staff. This has been a memorable experience with surprises the last two years and will be again. Wednesday 12:30 pm Send Off August 1st is the day the newly elected WEAC state officers begin their terms. Join together in a rousing send off of solidarity as we begin another chapter in WEAC's proud history.
