Nearly 1,000 WEAC members meet in Middleton on May 5-7, 2000, to set WEAC policy for the coming year.
The annual Representative Assembly will vote on a variety of issues, including the WEAC budget, election of officials, resolutions and new business items. Delegates will hear reports on Great Schools and view ads from the statewide Great Schools television campaign that is now airing. The proposed budget continues the Great Schools initiative.
Delegates will consider a new business item proposed by the WEAC Board of Directors dealing with teacher and support staff compensation issues.
Delegates will also elect a secretary-treasurer, an NEA director and an alternate NEA director. Three candidates are unopposed:
The Representative Assembly is democracy in action, WEAC President Terry Craney said. Members from throughout the state are elected to represent colleagues in their districts. Members set the course for WEAC. We often have healthy debate, but our objective is to be united to accomplish the goals we set.
The Representative Assembly is at the Marriott-Madison West Hotel in Middleton.
